The Millenium Project Bookshop
This is a collection of books related to the various categories in
The Millenium Project.
There is also a list of books which are not recommended. These are by authors featured elsewhere on the site or deal with topics mentioned here. There will not be many of them, and they are here because I don't want to be accused of ignoring opposing points of view and, as people are going to buy them, I rather like the irony of the situation anyway. Commissions from the sale of non-recommended books as well as all commissions from sales in the Health Fraud, Vaccination and Pseudoscience categories are donated to the Australian Council Against Health Fraud to help in the fight against quackery.
Book of the Week The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould. Gould has been criticised for being a bit cruel and nasty (and even a bit inaccurate) in his criticisms of people who didn't know the things we know today, but it is a useful book to show how science can change as more is learned about something. There is no doubt that science is influenced by the culture of the time, but the difference between science and non-science or pseudoscience is that the real thing can break away from culture when the facts demand it.
